A banking app asks you to disconnect your VPN. Instead of switching OutSpeed VPN off every time, you can exclude that app in Happ on Android. Here is how to choose the right mode, test it and keep your routing understandable.
Check the cause first
Open the affected app with your VPN off, then repeat with the same OutSpeed VPN server connected. An exclusion is worth testing if the failure only happens with the VPN on. If it fails both ways, check your normal connection and the service itself first.
Some services restrict particular IP addresses or request an extra verification. This does not by itself identify a VPN fault. Start with a working OutSpeed VPN profile in Happ and the affected app installed on your phone.
Choose the correct mode
Happ documents per-app proxy for Android. Labels vary between releases and languages, so read the description of the selected mode.
| Mode | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| Off | No app selection; ordinary routing rules still apply. |
| On | Only selected apps enter the tunnel. |
| Bypass | Selected apps connect directly; other apps enter the tunnel. |
Set up an exclusion
- Disconnect Happ before editing the list.
- Open Settings and find Per-app proxy or the equivalent app selection section.
- Choose Bypass and select one app to begin with.
- Return to the home screen, choose a working OutSpeed VPN server and reconnect.
- Fully close the excluded app and reopen it. Also check an app that should still use the VPN.
Once this works, add any other necessary local apps. Avoid selecting everything at once: a small list is much easier to troubleshoot. Check the outcome after each addition.
An app exclusion is different from a website rule
Excluding a banking app does not automatically exclude its website in your browser. That browser has its own route. For specific websites, use the domain or IP rules available in Happ routing.
Start with the required domain and the Direct action. Authentication may use additional domains. A rule for every .ru website is a broad exclusion affecting unrelated sites too; a domain suffix also does not establish a server's physical location.
If the exclusion does not work
- Confirm Bypass is selected and the correct app is checked.
- Reconnect Happ and restart the affected app.
- Check for another active VPN client or filter using the VPN connection.
- Review Android's block-connections-without-VPN setting: it may prevent deliberately excluded apps from connecting. Change it only if direct access is what you want.
- Update from an official source if the relevant section is missing.
An IP lookup in a browser only tests that browser's route. It does not prove where a banking app connects. Check that the excluded app and a VPN-routed app both work at the same time.

Common questions
Can I use these steps on iPhone?
This app selection workflow is documented for Android. On iPhone, use the website rules available in your client instead of looking for the Android menu.
Will the excluded app use my normal IP?
It uses your network's direct connection rather than the OutSpeed VPN server for that traffic. The app may also have its own network mechanisms.
