Not every app needs the same route. Hiddify on Android lets you keep selected local apps outside the VPN while using OutSpeed VPN elsewhere. Start with a working connection, then add a small, testable set of exclusions.
Start with a working profile
Confirm that OutSpeed VPN connects in Hiddify, the server list loads and at least one server opens the sites you need. Exclusions cannot fix an expired subscription or a profile that does not connect.
Compare the affected app with and without the VPN. Save a screenshot of your current routing settings before changing them, so you can restore a known starting point.
Find app-based routing
Current Hiddify uses the name App-based routing; older releases may call it Per-app proxy. Open Settings and Routing, then find the app selection controls. Available options depend on your client version and platform.
Choose Bypass for apps that should connect outside the VPN. Proxy only selects apps that should enter the tunnel. Hiddify v4 reorganised the old Config Options page, so do not expect every older guide's menu path to match.
Add an app to Bypass
- Disconnect Hiddify and open app-based routing.
- Select Bypass and open the app list.
- Find the correct app by name and icon, taking work profiles or cloned apps into account.
- Save the selection and reconnect your OutSpeed VPN profile.
- Fully close and reopen the excluded app, then test a second app that should stay in the tunnel.
Begin with one exclusion and add more after checking the result. If most apps suddenly connect directly, double-check that you did not choose Proxy only by mistake.
Understand the scope of an exclusion
An app outside the VPN is not handled in the same way as traffic entering the client's routing rules. A Proxy rule for a domain may therefore not bring an excluded app back into the tunnel. Remove the app from Bypass and reconnect when it needs OutSpeed VPN again.
The exclusion applies to the app, not to every place where a service can be opened. A separate browser can take a different route. A VPN running on your home router also still affects the phone's direct connection: Hiddify cannot bypass the router's own routing policy.
Check common causes
- Verify the selected app, including any work-profile copy.
- Reconnect after editing the list.
- Check whether another browser or app is actually making the request.
- Review Android Always-on VPN and blocking of connections outside the VPN in light of your intended protection.
- Leave only one VPN client active during testing.
Do not disable certificate verification, encryption or browser security to fix an app exclusion. Those settings do not choose which apps enter the VPN. Restore your original routing if the change makes all sites stop working.
Keep the configuration manageable
Only exclude apps that need direct access, and test newly installed apps separately. If you need help, send OutSpeed VPN your Hiddify version and a screenshot of routing settings with subscription details hidden. Include a comparison with and without the VPN.
Common questions
Do I need a second OutSpeed VPN subscription?
No. App selection is a client setting. Continue using your existing supported profile.
Does the same menu exist on desktop?
Desktop rules differ. This guide covers Android; check VPN mode and supported process rules in the documentation for your desktop release.
Choose your connection app
Install a compatible client, then add your OutSpeed VPN subscription using the account instructions.
